Is Your Cat On Heartworm Prevention?

Many people don’t know their cats are susceptible to heartworms just like dogs.  Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes, therefore, both indoor and outdoor cats are at risk.  The heartworms live in the heart and lungs and cause inflammation.  Just 1 heartworm can be fatal in a cat because of the respiratory problems the worms cause.  Testing for heartworms is more difficult in cats than in dogs.  There is NO treatment available to treat heartworms in cats either.  This is why preventing this disease is so important.  We recommend Heartgard or Revolution for heartworm prevention in cats.  Please make an appointment to speak with our doctors so we can get your cat on heartworm prevention soon!
